Palestinian teenager killed by Israeli troops in Gaza Strip

GAZA CITY (AFP) - A Palestinian teenager was shot dead by Israeli troops in the northern Gaza Strip (news - web sites) town of Beit Lahiya, Palestinian medical sources said.

Ibrahim Mussa al-Muqayad, 14, was hit by a bullet in the back when soldiers opened fire on a group of Palestinian youths throwing stones on a nearby military position, the medical sources and witnesses said.

The teenager's death brings to 3,944 the number of people kileed since the beginning of the Palestinian uprising in September 2000, including 2,974 Palestinians and 900 Israelis, according to an AFP tally.
