NABLUS, West Bank (Reuters) - An Israeli sniper killed a Palestinian youth on Friday during a West Bank raid by troops looking for militants, Palestinian medics said.
They said Amer Bassyouni, 15, was shot in the neck and died from his wounds as Israeli forces searched for militants in the Alamin refugee camp in the West Bank city of Nablus.
Israeli military sources said troops had been in Nablus during an operation when they identified an armed gunman, fired towards him and identified hitting him.
Palestinian security sources said the youth had been seen next to his house as Israeli forces raided the area.
Israeli forces frequently raid West Bank towns searching for wanted militants.
