PARIS (AFP) - Iran, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Lebanon and Syria, are all likely to be raised when US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has talks with French President Jacques Chirac on Thursday, the foreign ministry said.

Rice and Chirac may also discuss the situation in Belarus after the contested re-election of President Alexander Lukashenko, and Ukraine following Sunday's elections, which delivered a stinging defeat to the country's pro-Western president, ministry spokesman Jean-Baptiste Mattei added.

Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy will also be involved in the talks Thursday afternoon at the Elysee palace.

Rice will arrive in Paris from Berlin after a lunch to discuss the crisis over Iran's nuclear programme with her counterparts from the other members of the UN Security Council (Britain, China, France and Russia) plus Germany's foreign minister.

In Berlin, Mattei said France would reiterate its wish for the international community to find a common position on Iran, while reaffirming its desire to see a tough line taken with Tehran over its suspected nuclear ambitions.

The five permanent members of the Security Council have been unable to agree on a text, reflecting deep divergences between the United States, France and Britain on one side and Russia and China on the other.
