Gaza teenager killed by Israeli shelling

Nahid al-Shambary, who was near his house at the time of the strike, was killed instantly, they said Monday.

A two-year-old child was also wounded in the same strike, hospital officials said.

Earlier Monday another Palestinian man, 32-year-old Yussef Maghari, died of wounds he sustained during a July 19 Israeli air raid on the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.

At least 149 Palestinians and one Israeli soldier have died since Israel launched a massive offensive in late June to recover a soldier captured by Gaza militants and to halt rocket fire, according to an AFP count.

The latest death brings to 5,298 the number of people killed since the start of the intifada in September 2000, most of them Palestinians, according to a separate AFP count.
