MOSCOW (AFP) - Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has reiterated Russia's call for all sides to meet their obligations under the UN-brokered ceasefire in Lebanon during a telephone conversation with Lebanese parliamentary leader Saad Hariri.

Lavrov "accentuated the importance of complete fulfillment by all sides of UN Security Council resolution 1701, which allows guaranteeing a solid ceasefire and a long-term settlement between Lebanon and Israel," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.

The telephone conversation took place Tuesday on the initiative of Hariri, leader of Lebanon's parliamentary majority, the statement said.

For his part, Hariri called for Israel to end its blockade of Lebanon, the statement said.

Under UN Security Council Resolution 1701 an international force of up to 15,000 troops will be deployed near the Israeli border in south Lebanon alongside the Lebanese army to guarantee the truce following a month-long war.
