JERUSALEM (AFP) - Israeli troops arrested 13 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank on suspicion of engaging in "anti-Israeli activities".

The Palestinians are suspected of belonging to Islamist movement Hamas, radical Islamic Jihad movement or armed groups connected to the secular Fatah party headed by Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas.

Israeli troops operating in the northern West Bank town of Nablus also came under gunfire as a homemade bomb was flung in their direction, causing no casualties, a military spokeswoman said Tuesday.

While a tenuous Israeli-Palestinian truce that has been largely holding in the Gaza Strip moved into a third day on Tuesday, the agreement does not apply to the West Bank.
