8/25/2010 - Mossad in America By Philip Giraldi
As tensions with Iran increase, sources in the counterintelligence community report that Israeli agents have become more aggressive in targeting Muslims living in the United States as well as in operating against critics. There have been a number of cases reported to the FBI about Mossad officers who have approached leaders in Arab-American communities and have falsely represented themselves as “U.S. intelligence.” Because few Muslims would assist an Israeli, this is done to increase the likelihood that the target will cooperate. It’s referred to as a “false flag” operation...In another bizarre case, U.S.S. Liberty survivor Phil Tourney was recently accosted in Southern California by a foreigner who eventually identified himself as an Israeli government representative. Tourney was taunted, and the Israeli threatened both him and journalist Mark Glenn, who has been reporting on the Liberty story.

8/25/2010 - UN Report: IDF Barring Gazans' Access to Farms, Fishing Zones
All in all the IDF restricts access to 17 percent of Gaza's territory. At sea, the fishermen are completely barred from 85 percent of the naval territory to which they are entitled under the Oslo Accords......According to OCHA, the IDF enforces uses life fire on individuals who enter restricted zones. Though in most cases the troops fire warning shots, 22 people have been killed and 146 have been wounded in such incidents since the end of Operation Cast Lead in January 2009. The report further argues that this method of enforcement violates international humanitarian law, and that the local Palestinian population was never informed by Israel of the exact nature of the restrictions. Lovely people, aren't they?
8/25/2010 - Benjamin Netanyahu rejects demands to continue settlement freeze
Mr Netanyahu leads a largely right-wing and religious coalition which is committed to Jewish settlement across the West Bank, and the Israeli prime minister has already warned that extending the moratorium would risk the future of his government.
8/25/2010 - Declassified: Massive Israeli Manipulation of US Media Exposed
A huge trove of newly declassified documents subpoenaed during a Senate investigation reveals how Israel’s lobby pitched, promoted, and paid to have content placed in America’s top news magazines with overseas funding. The Atlantic (and others) received hefty rewards for trumpeting Israel’s most vital – but damaging – PR initiatives across America. Wow. How many media outlets, magazines, newspapers, radio programs are they funding now? 99 percent of the mainstream media carries Israel's side of the story 99 percent of the time. Not a coincidence.
8/25/2010 - Russia: Israel need not fear reactor
Israelis should not be concerned about the uranium fueling of a Russian-built nuclear reactor in the southern Iranian city of Bushehr that is set to take place on Saturday, diplomatic officials at the Russian Embassy in Tel Aviv told The Jerusalem Post.
8/25/2010 - U.S. support for Israel is decreasing, new poll shows
One of the questions that the poll presented was "Does the U.S. need to support Israel?" In August of 2009, 63% of Americans polled said that the U.S. does need to support Israel. In June of this year, 58% of respondents shared the same view; by July only 51% of respondents said the U.S. needed to support Israel. This means that the Israeli PR machine will be in full swing, much stronger than it normally is. Be on the lookout (for increased BS).

8/25/2010 - .Israel faces difficult choice on settlement freeze
"If Israel resumes settlement activities in the Palestinian territories, including east Jerusalem, we cannot continue negotiations," Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said, quoting from the letter. He said the document also was sent to other members of the "Quartet" of Mideast mediators, the EU, U.N. and Russia.
Peace or piece. Can't keep taking someone else's land and expect them to be at peace with it.
8/25/2010 - Abbas: End of settlement freeze would end direct peace talks
Renewed Israeli construction in settlements after the end of the construction freeze in late September would bring the newly-launched direct negotiations to a grinding halt, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has warned in letters sent to U.S. President Barack Obama, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and the High Representative of the European Union on Foreign Policy, Catherine Ashton. "It's impossible to conduct negotiations alongside settlement construction," wrote Abbas. Peace or piece. Israel chooses piece every time - as in, another piece of Palestine.
8/25/2010 - UN report: IDF barring Gazans' access to farms, fishing zones
Over the last ten years, the Israel Defense Forces have increasingly restricted Palestinian access to farmland on the Gazan side of the Israeli-Gaza border as well as to fishing zones along the Gaza beach, a United Nations report revealed Thursday.
8/25/2010 - Netanyahu rejects peace talks based on 1967 borders
The Quartet - the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia - issued the statement after a meeting in Moscow on March 19. It calls for 24 months of talks between Israel and the PA that would result in an agreement on the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The statement said that the founding of the Palestinian state would end the occupation that began in 1967. It also called on Israel to institute a total freeze of construction in West Bank settlements and to refrain from home demolitions in East Jerusalem. The declaration even went so far as to mention that the international community does not recognize Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem.
8/25/2010 - Amnesty Int'l Finland: Israel scum state
Asked why he termed Israel a “scum state,” Johansson told the Post in a telephone interview that it was because Israel has “repeatedly flouted international law,” and due to his “personal experiences inside and outside of Israel with meeting Israelis.” Well, Israel in fact does flagrantly violate international law and has since its inception.
8/25/2010 - Aussie parties support Israel
As the two major parties in Australia's federal election vie for the title of Israel's most ardent backer, most Jewish leaders believe that Australia’s longstanding, strong bilateral support for the Jewish state will not be jeopardized regardless of the outcome. Why, it's just like it is here in America - the power of Israel and its lobbies over Western governments.
8/25/2010 - United Against Knowledge
The Guardian reported today that two Israeli groups have set up training courses in subversive Wikipedia editing aiming to 'show the other side' of the Jewish State....Yesha Council, representing the Jewish settler movement ran their first workshop this week in Jerusalem, teaching participants how to ‘rewrite’ and ‘revise’ some of the most “hotly disputed pages of the online reference site.” I'm not really surprised. I have encountered people like this since I began this fight 8 years ago. The Israelis and their supporters here will do anything to whitewash Israel's past and ongoing crimes against not just Palestinians, but Americans too (USS Liberty, Rachel Corrie).

3 chosen, including Israel's most ardent representative in parliament.
8/25/2010 - Internet Killed Israeli PR An interview with Minor Demographic Threat
Israel understands the threat of a medium that bypasses intermediaries and allows ordinary people to disseminate content to a mass audience. Journalists aboard the Mavi Marmara have said that the top priority for soldiers boarding the ship appeared to be the seizure of all the photographic equipment they could find, thus allowing their government to control the media narrative. The only way Israel could exert any measure of control was by cutting off the flow of information. And despite their best efforts, information still got out, some of it during the attack itself. As the web continues its evolution into a real-time medium, this strategy will become increasingly unsustainable.
8/25/2010 - Is Canada passing information on its citizens to Israel?
The ardently pro-Israel Conservative government led by Prime Minister Stephen Harper has repeatedly equated expressions of support for Palestinian rights with extremism. In March 2009, Ottawa barred British parliamentarian George Galloway from Canada for delivering humanitarian aid to Hamas officials who were the elected administration in the Gaza Strip.
8/25/2010 - US jobless claims jump to 500,000; nine-month high
8/25/2010 - America Has Disgraced Itself
Once upon a time, Republicans were so confident that the vast majority of Muslims preferred freedom to jihad that they believed the U.S. could install democracy in Iraq within months. Now, confronted with a group of Muslim Americans who want to build a cultural center that includes Jews and Christians on the board (how many churches and synagogues do that?), GOP leaders call them terrorists because they don’t share Benjamin Netanyahu’s view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict..... I wonder how David Petraeus feels about all this. There he is, slogging away in the Hindu Kush, desperately trying to be culturally sensitive, watching GIs get killed because Afghans believe the U.S. is waging a war on Islam, and back home, the super-patriots on Fox News have… declared war on Islam. Good point.
8/25/2010 - A Threat From Within
No surprise that the number of millionaires in Israel soared by 43% in just one year, from 2008 to 2009, a rate bested only by Hong Kong and India. Then why exactly is my government sending billions of American taxpayer dollars to Israel, when clearly, that money could be better spent at home?

8/25/2010 - Report: Iran needs year to develop nuclear weapon
American and Israeli officials believe that Iran has only enough nuclear materials for two weapons. And to build those two would require the country to kick out international inspectors, which would make it clear what its intentions were.
It would also take some time for Iran to convert its nuclear facilities to produce weapons–grade uranium.

8/25/2010 - Two Minutes to Midnight?: Cutting Through the Media's Bogus Bomb-Iran Debate
The pièce de résistance in the most recent drum roll of bomb-Iran alerts, however, came from Jeffrey Goldberg in the Atlantic Monthly. A journalist influential in U.S. pro-Israeli circles, he also has access to Israel's corridors of power. Because sanctions were unlikely to force Iran to back down on its uranium enrichment project, Goldberg invited readers to believe that there was a more than even chance Israel would launch a military strike on the country by next summer.
8/25/2010 - The Erosion of America's Middle Class
Finley calls them "the new poor." "That is a different category of people that I think we're seeing," he says. "They are people who never in their wildest imaginations thought they would be homeless." They're people who had enough money -- a lot of money, in some cases -- until recently......the United States, in the wake of a real estate, financial economic and now debt crisis, which it still hasn't overcome, is threatened by a social Ice Age more severe than anything the country has seen since the Great Depression......While 90 percent of Americans have seen only modest gains in their incomes since 1973, incomes have almost tripled for people at the upper end of the scale. In 1979, one third of the profits the country produced went to the richest 1 percent of American society. Today it's almost 60 percent. America can ill afford to buy planes for the defense of Israel

8/25/2010 - Al Qaeda Already Gaming Out War Between Israel and Iran
Israel will stage air strikes on Iran’s nuclear installations to start. Shehri expects the Iranian Shia regime to try to take advantage of an Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities to seize the holy cities of Mecca and Medina by blaming Saudi Arabia for helping Israel attack. In turn, the Israelis will seize territory in the Levant to establish “the greater state of Israel.” The Sunni Arab population of the Middle East will be caught between the “Jews in the Middle East and Iran in the Peninsula.”
8/25/2010 - Bad news on homes, goods adds to air of recession
It's starting to feel like another recession. Businesses are ordering fewer goods. Home sales are the slowest in decades. Jobs are scarce, and unemployment claims are rising. Obama administration officials, as well as U.S. lawmakers and European diplomats, passionately made the argument this spring that tough sanctions on Iran were necessary to avoid war. But contrary to their predictions, the drumbeat for war -- particularly from Israel – has only increased since the U.N. Security Council adopted a new resolution against Tehran in June.
8/18/2010 - Hillary’s Enemies List by Philip Giraldi
The State Department report sometimes seems like a press release for the Israeli Foreign Ministry. Regarding the horrific Israeli invasion of Gaza and its aftermath...Nothing about Israeli provocations and no mention of the deliberate destruction of schools and infrastructure and the targeting of UN relief operations or the high level of civilian casualties.....The report suggests a new, heavily armed and malignant axis of evil. It clearly makes opponents of Israel the designated bad guys and fails to note that US intelligence has not been able to confirm Tel Aviv’s allegations, making one wonder why uncorroborated claims from biased foreign sources should appear in a United States government document without any additional caveats.....So Israel’s enemies are America’s enemies and Hillary won’t let you forget that fact. All Americans should read this.

8/18/2010 - The Weak Case for War with Iran
the Islamic Republic is not Hitler's Germany, particularly regarding Jews. No matter how many anti-Zionist or even anti-Semitic quotes Gerecht, Goldberg, and others may marshal from Iranian politicians, inconvenient realities undermine the Islamic Republic/Third Reich analogy: Roughly 25,000-30,000 Jews continue living in Iran, with civil status equal to other Iranians and a constitutionally guaranteed parliamentary seat. It is illegal in the Islamic Republic for Muslims to consume alcohol --but Jews (and Christians) are permitted wine for religious ceremonies and personal consumption.

8/18/2010 - Gaza Strip: Crisis Takes a Psychological Toll on Locals
Perhaps most damaging, psychologists and residents say, is the feeling that there is no way out, no way to change Gaza's future. Attempts to reconcile Islamist Hamas, which rules Gaza, and its rival Western–backed Fatah, which it ousted in 2007 and which controls the West Bank, have long stalled. And peace with Israel seems entirely intangible to most, undesirable to many.

25,000 Jews live in Iran. It's the largest Jewish population in the Middle East outside of Israel. They are not stopped and searched at checkpoints, they are not brutalized by an occupying army, and they are not herded into a densely-populated penal colony (Gaza) where they are deprived of the basic means of survival. Iranian Jews live in dignity and enjoy the benefits of citizenship.

Joblessness has taken hold in America, with the numbers of long-term unemployed reaching levels not seen since the Depression of the 1930s. 8/18/2010 - "Captain, Where Is Your Sense of Decency?"
8/18/2010 - Israel, the bomb, and openness
It's time for Israel to come out of the closet. After five decades of maintaining a nuclear weapons program without acknowledging its existence, Israel should proactively announce and provide information about its nuclear weapons status. Though Israel's bombs have long been an open secret, unprecedented international scrutiny in coming years will make this "nuclear opacity" increasingly untenable.
8/18/2010 - How propagandists function Exhibit A - Glenn Greenwald
Goldberg wouldn't possibly claim what he claims now -- that the 1981 strike permanently halted Saddam's "nuclear ambitions" -- because, back then, his goal was to scare Americans about The Threat of Saddam. So in 2002, Goldberg warned Americans that Saddam had "redoubled" his efforts to turn Iraq into a nuclear power after the Israeli attack, i.e., that Saddam had a scarier nuclear program than ever before after the 1981 bombing raid. But now, Goldberg has a different goal: to convince Americans of the efficacy of bombing Iran, and thus, without batting an eye, he simply asserts the exact opposite factual premise: that the Israelis successfully and permanently ended Saddam's nuclear ambition back in 1981 by bombing it out of existence (and, therefore, we can do something similar now to Iran)....The purpose of this Atlantic article is as obvious as it is odious: to mainstream the debate over an Israeli or American attack on Iran by defending its rationale, all masquerading as objective reporting
8/18/2010 - Why Israel Wants a US War with Iran
Last month, in The Weekly Standard, Reuel Marc Gerecht made the case for an Israeli strike against Iranian nuclear targets. With the publication of Jeffrey Goldberg's "The Point of No Return" in the Atlantic, the campaign for war against Iran is now arguing that the United States should attack so Israel won't have to.
8/18/2010 - AP: Arab nations lobby U.S. on anti-Israel vote
Islamic nations have long called for Israel – which is widely believed to have nuclear arms – to open its program. But the fact that the Arab League has directly approached Washington and other Israeli allies for support at the September meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency is significant, considering that President Barack Obama last month warned against using that forum to single out Israel.

The majority of them are Jewish.....HIAS signed a letter alongside 20 other Jewish and non-Jewish organizations in April that was sent to Democratic New York Senator Charles Schumer, asking him to support legislation that removes the time limits on SSI eligibility for noncitizen refugees.

8/11/2010 - A Cakewalk Against Iran by Philip Giraldi
A resolution (HR 1553) is making its way through Congress that that would endorse an Israeli attack on Iran, which would be going to war by proxy as the US would almost immediately be drawn into the conflict when Tehran retaliates. The resolution provides explicit US backing for Israel to bomb Iran, stating that Congress supports Israel’s use of "all means necessary…including the use of military force." The resolution is non-binding, but it is dazzling in its disregard for the possible negative consequences that would ensue for the hundreds of thousands of US military and diplomatic personnel currently serving in the Near East region.

8/11/2010 - Will Israel Really Attack Iran Within a Year?
Based on dozens of interviews the Atlantic correspondent conducted in recent months with Israeli, American and Arab officials, Goldberg came to the conclusion that the likelihood of an Israeli strike has crossed the 50 percent mark. And Israel might not even ask for the famous "green light" from the U.S. - or even give couple of false pre-attack alerts, so that Washington won't try to stop the unilateral operation......Israel is trying to convey the message not only through the official channels - Israeli military intelligence chief Major General Amos Yadlin visited Chicago recently to meet with the billionaire Lester Crown, one of Obama’s supporters, and asked to him to convey Israel's concerns to the American President, Goldberg reports.

8/11/2010 - U.S. Is Bankrupt and We Don't Even Know
Most likely we will see a combination of all three responses with dramatic increases in poverty, tax, interest rates and consumer prices. This is an awful, downhill road to follow, but it’s the one we are on. And bond traders will kick us miles down our road once they wake up and realize the U.S. is in worse fiscal shape than Greece. America's falling to pieces as we shovel billions to the Middle East to make it a safer place for Israel.

8/11/2010 - Speak No Evil by Philip Giraldi
surely Clemons knows that Ross and Makovsky are leading members of the Israel Lobby. Ross, who is currently at the National Security Council, has been described as “Israel’s lawyer” while Makovsky is a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a think tank founded by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. They are gatekeepers whose purpose in life is to protect Israel from any and all criticism. To suggest that as policymakers they have been focused on doing what’s best for the United States and its citizens is contradicted by their personal histories and their recorded statements. That they receive a free pass and even a pat on the head from Clemons and others is precisely why US foreign policy is as dysfunctional as it is.
8/11/2010 - Mayor Bloomberg’s Monumental Folly by Patrick J. Buchanan
But the issue here is not religious tolerance. There are a hundred mosques in New York City.
The issue here is the appalling insensitivity, if not calculated insult, of erecting a mosque two blocks from a World Trade Center where 3,000 Americans were massacred by Islamic fanatics whose Muslim religion was integral to their identity and mission. Not sure I agree with Pat on this one, but the comments are interesting.

8/11/2010 - China is a barometer on whether Israel will attack nuclear plants in Iran
China’s defiance irks the US to the point that American officials are now openly critical of Beijing. Perhaps the US knows something about Israel’s intentions toward striking Iran that China doesn’t. A prime opportunity for Israel to strike Iran would be this fall, just before the US elections when politicians are most prone to support Israel despite its actions.

Social Security will pay out more this year than it gets in payroll taxes, marking the first time since the program will be in the red since it was overhauled in 1983, according to the annual authoritative report released Thursday by the program's actuary.
America is getting poorer as we continue to shovel billions to the Middle East to Israel and others in order to make the world a safer place not for us, but for Israel. Because, our support for Israel actually endangers us. It was the sole motivation given by the mastermind of the 911 attacks, Khaled S. Mohammed.
8/11/2010 - The Mosque and Us
Before it became a cause célèbre for Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich and other rank opportunists, before the Anti-Defamation League sullied a once-noble reputation by siding against religious liberty, before the tweets and satellite trucks spun this all out of control, the plan to turn an eyesore of an empty building two blocks from Ground Zero into a mosque and Islamic center was embraced as a sign of true healing.
8/11/2010 - Arab Majority Backs Nuclear Iran
A new poll shows that the percentage of the Arab world that thinks a nuclear-armed Iran would be good for the Middle East has doubled since last year and now makes up the majority. You'll note that the critic of the poll who was cited in this article is from the WINEP, a thinktank associated with AIPAC, Israel's lobby. Naturally they're going to try to refute this poll's findings; it goes against their propaganda effort to paint the Arab world as in opposition to Iran obtaining nuclear weapons.

Prof. Donna Shalala, who served as the US Secretary of Health and Human Services for eight years under Clinton and is currently the president of the University of Miami, was held for two-and-a-half hours at Ben Gurion Airport during which she underwent a humiliating security debriefing because of her Arab last name – all this despite the fact that her hosts notified the airport ahead of time that she is a VIP. The fact that Shalala arrived in Israel as part of an official delegation of the heads of universities fighting against the academic boycott against the Jewish State also seemed not to help her.

8/4/2010 - No Blank Checks for the GOP — or Likud by Patrick J. Buchanan
Since June 1914, a “blank check” given by one nation to another for war has been regarded as strategic folly.
Thus it is startling to learn 47 House Republicans just signed on to H.R. 1553 declaring unequivocal “support for Israel’s right to use all means necessary to confront and eliminate nuclear threats posed by Iran … including the use of military force.” These Republicans have just given Tel Aviv a blank check for a pre-emptive war that Israel, unless it uses its nuclear weapons, can start but not finish. Fighting and finishing that war would fall to the armed forces of the United States...Indeed, the principal purpose and result of an Israeli pre-emptive war on Iran, bringing retaliation on Israel, would be to drag America in to fight and finish a war Israel had begun.
The mainstream media has still refused to pick up this story.

The EU funds millions of pounds' worth of projects in Gaza. These are regularly destroyed by Israel's American-made weaponry. So it goes like this. European taxpayers fork out for the projects. 8/4/2010 - The Law of Return at 60: Revisiting (and Revising) a Zionist Pillar
In 1950 and even in 1970, Israel was still a poor and fledgling state surrounded by enemies. Anyone who wanted to immigrate was, almost by definition, someone who desired to cast his or her lot with the Jewish people.
Today’s Israel, by contrast, is economically prosperous and, hence, a potential magnet for immigrants. At the same time, it is a society suffering from deep social cleavages. The Law of Return and the corresponding citizenship law need to be reformed to meet Israel’s current needs.
Read the excerpt by Freeman in this news batch. Americans by the millions get food stamps as billions of our taxpayer dollars are handed to 'economicall prosperous' Israel.

The ADL’s Abe Foxman, who harshly attacked Gen. 8/4/2010 - Beck’s Holocaust comments prompt Fox News meeting
Beck has won praise from some in the Jewish community for focusing on Nazi atrocities, though. Morton A. Klein, national president of the Zionist Organization of America, wrote in support of Beck, saying that he "deeply believes the Holocaust is the most vicious and monstrous behavior in human history" and "believes we must stay on high alert to make sure it never happens again."
Beck's also a strong supporter of the policies of the current Israeli government. Indeed, the Israeli government even highlighted Beck's coverage of the recent flotilla raid.
Beck is another pandering nitwit.
8/4/2010 - Flare-up over tree accents Israel-Lebanon tension
The clash started after an Israeli soldier on a crane dangled over a fence near the border early Tuesday to trim a tree that could provide cover for infiltrators. Many who harbor political ambitions rightly fear the power of the Israel Lobby, but fear is a far remove from affection. Many Congressmen held hostage by the Lobby resent it and long for the time when they would be able to support genuine American interests relating to the Middle East. Petraeus surely understands that no one can get nominated by a major party to run for president of the United States if the Israel Lobby and its media supporters say no. The mainstream media ignored this story, as one would expect.

8/4/2010 - The “Summer Camp Of Destruction:” Israeli High Schoolers Assist The Razing Of A Bedouin Town
On July 26, Israeli police demolished 45 buildings in the unrecognized Bedouin village of al-Arakib, razing the entire village to the ground to make way for a Jewish National Fund forest......One of the most troubling aspects of the destruction of al-Arakib was a report by CNN that the hundreds of Israeli riot police who stormed the village were accompanied by “busloads of cheering civilians.”
8/4/2010 - Ethnic cleansing in the Israeli Negev
They say the next intifada will be the Bedouin intifada. There are 155,000 Bedouins in the Negev, and more than half of them live in unrecognised villages without electricity or running water. I do not know what they might do, but by making 300 people homeless, 200 of them children, Israel is surely sowing dragon's teeth for the future.
8/4/2010 - Why put an attack on Iran back on the table?
I suspect that the real reason for the new flood of commentary calling for attacks on Iran is simply that hawks hope to pocket their winnings from the long argument over sanctions, such as they are, and now push to the next stage in the confrontation they've long demanded

8/4/2010 - Activist Supports Probe of Aid Raid
Ann Wright, who served 29 years in the Army and nearly six years as a diplomat for the State Department, was one of three department officials to resign over the March 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Now an outspoken peace activist, Wright took part in the May 30-31 Gaza Aid Flotilla in which six civilian ships tried to go through Israel's naval blockade of the Gaza Strip, ostensibly to bring humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians.

8/4/2010 - AIPAC Goes to College: Teaching Americans to Put Israel First
8/4/2010 - The Real Aim of Israel’s Bomb Iran Campaign
What is important to understand about this campaign is that the aim of Gerecht and of the right-wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu is to support an attack by Israel so that the United States can be drawn into direct, full-scale war with Iran.
That has long been the Israeli strategy for Iran, because Israel cannot fight a war with Iran without full U.S. involvement. Israel needs to know that the United States will finish the war that Israel wants to start.

7/28/2010 - Who Voted for War With Iran, Mr. Obama? by Philip Giraldi
House of Representatives resolution 1553, introduced by Congressional Republicans, and currently working its way through the system will endorse an Israeli attack on Iran, which would be going to war by proxy as the US would almost immediately be drawn into the conflict when Tehran retaliates. The resolution provides explicit US backing for Israel to bomb Iran, stating that Congress supports Israel’s use of “all means necessary…including the use of military force”. The resolution is non-binding, but it is dazzling in its disregard for the possible negative consequences that would ensue for the hundreds of thousands of US military and diplomatic personnel currently serving in the Near East region.
7/28/2010 - American Jews don military uniforms for volunteer service
They left their comfortable lives in lap of their families for meals in soldiers' residence during combat training. Volunteers of 'Aish Machal' project come to contribute to Israel in only way they see fit – military service ......"Nathaniel told me that if he's going to take a bullet, he'd rather take one in Israel, for the country," Is there something wrong with joining the military of the country in which they were residing - AMERICA? We've got TWO WARS going on, something is not right with this picture. A MUST READ from start to finish.
7/28/2010 - Israel, U.S. sign deal to upgrade Arrow missile shield

7/28/2010 - Palestinian shepherd videotapes Israeli settlers
Episodes like this are frequent in the South Hebron Hills, where
settlers from the settlements and the outposts attack Palestinian
shepherds and farmers to intimidate and force them to leave their lands. These
kinds of illegal actions are usually left unpunished and many of them occur with
Israeli military and police complicity. The Palestinian communities of this area
have chosen to nonviolently resist the continuous abuses of the Israeli settlers
and military.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may have declared a freeze on new settlements, but construction is continuing in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Such foundations in the United States can be exempted from taxes as long as they benefit "educational, religious or charitable" causes.
7/28/2010 - Resolution Green-Lighting Israeli Strikes on Iran Introduced by House Republicans
Hawkish former Bush Administration official John Bolton recently laid out the game plan to prod Israel into attacking Iran, arguing that outsiders can "create broad support" for a strike by framing it as an issue of Israel's right to self defense. Supporters for military strikes, Bolton says, should "defend the specific tactic of pre-emptive attacks" against Iran. He urges that Congress can "make it clear" that it supports such strikes and that "having visible congressional support in place at the outset will reassure the Israeli government, which is legitimately concerned about Mr. Obama's likely negative reaction to such an attack." John Bolton is a traitor to the American people, and ought to be treated as such. He works FOR ISRAEL.

7/28/2010 - Reading the tea leaves
hopes received a hard knock by reading here that a lion’s share of GOP congresspeople with Tea Party ties signed on to an idiotic resolution endorsing an Israeli military strike on Iran. The resolution is dumb in the first place, because Israel would only attack Iran if it had assurances that the US would step in to clean up the mess, and basically continue the war Israel started. But since that war would probably immiserate the United States with oil price spikes, plus ramp up the casualties in Iran and Afghanistan, it’s a bad deal

Pipes is another traitor to America. An attack by Israel on Iran puts our troops and our missions in the region in GRAVE DANGER. Pipes, Kristol, Bolton, most of US Congress and countless others that are pushing for support for such a strike are all TRAITORS. They do not have the interests of AMERICANS as their primary concern.

Not even his Princeton pedigree seemed of much help to him in figuring this out, so he opted for torture. Yet, there is zero appetite to address what effect U.S. invasions and occupation of Muslim countries and our Siamese-twin relationship with Israel might be having among young Muslim men.
7/28/2010 - Israel's sex trade booming

7/21/2010 - Poll: Most Americans would back Israel attack on Iran
This is what happens when my fellow Americans get their news from our mainstream media. They are lying to us. Iran is not a threat to the USA, nor has it threatened us in the absence of any threats we've made. This whole Iran scare, just like during the runup to the war with Iraq, has been put forth by Israel and its lobby here in America. THE LATTER are the REAL threat to America. They should be sent packing to teh country to which they are loyal: Israel.
Our troops are sitting ducks when Iran retaliates after any Israeli strike on their country. No American would ever support that. But you won't hear about the fallout in our mainstream media, who all cower in fear of the Israeli lobby.

The facts beneath the competing narratives permit a key conclusion; namely, that U.S. intelligence has learned nothing to change its assessment that Iran halted work on the nuclear-weapons related part of its nuclear development program in the fall of 2003 and has not restarted that work......hold onto your hats. It is worth mentioning that in the 1980s, regardless of Jonathan Pollards' espionage activities for Israel, Israeli companies and individuals were involved many cases of technological espionage, steeling U.S. secrets, technology and equipment.
The most outstanding case involved Milco, a U.S. based company owned by Israeli tycoon Arnon Milchan, which bought and shipped equipment with which could have also been used as triggers for nuclear weapons. These people are not our allies, not even close.

By the close of the assembly, the Jewish groups felt that their investment had paid off as the convocation approved a report on the Israel-Palestinian conflict that blunted or blocked some of the text’s original language which had most disturbed them........“The Simon Wiesenthal Center went into a high level of inflammatory rhetoric, which was really below the belt as far as it being certainly unkind, but also untrue,” Levy said. “The church has been looking time and time again at these issues, and then you have Jewish groups that blackmail the church on interfaith relations. They say, ‘Don’t move forward, because you’re going to upset us.’” The truth about Israel must be whitewashed at all costs.

7/21/2010 - Bad translation makes fundamentalists of us all
I was recently watching the Spanish documentary To Shoot an Elephant, about the Israeli attacks on Gaza in January 2009. The documentary is good, but the subtitles in English struck me as strange: "For the sake of Allah", "May Allah protect [your sons] for you", "May Allah reward you" and other references to God are recurrent throughout the film.

7/14/2010 - Palestinian village to be encircled by barrier
The barrier, running much of the length of the West Bank, has already disrupted lives in many Palestinian towns and villages in its path. But it threatens to outright smother Walajeh: The community of about 2,000 on the southwest edge of Jerusalem is to be completely encircled by a fence cutting it off from most of its open land, according to an Israeli Defense Ministry map.
This wall, built on Palestinian territory, is illegal under international law. The US prevents justice from being upheld in this case, and most others dealing with Israel's violations of international law.

7/14/2010 - It's official: Israel has gotten away with it -- again
Over a month after the deadly raid, and after an overwhelming bipartisan majority in Congress signed onto an American-Israel Public Affairs Committee letter that expressed "strong support for Israel's right to defend itself," the Obama administration is letting Israel get away scot-free. Israel will continue with the status quo of occupation and blockade while the prospects for a Palestinian state continue to whither away.

7/14/2010 - Strong Russian remarks on Iran please Washington
A major goal of U.S. President Barack Obama's "reset" of relations with Moscow has been winning Russian backing for a tougher international line toward Iran. Did it have anything to do with the recent spy exchange between US and Russia, mewonders? I think so.

A New York Times investigation revealed Tuesday that the U.S. Treasury is helping to promote illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank by granting tax exemptions to U.S. groups that funnel money into them. These specific settlements aren't only illegal under international law, but also under Israeli law. Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory are a violation of article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention; war crimes. The US government has been aiding and abetting Israeli war crimes for decades, even war crimes against US citizens.

He insists negotiations should be held without any preconditions.

7/14/2010 - Israeli academics hit back over bid to pass law that would criminalise them
the petition as hysterical and an attempt to silence contrary opinions. While the vast majority of the signatories do not support an academic boycott of Israel, they have joined forces over what they regard as the latest assault on freedom of expression in Israel. The petition states: "We have different and varied opinions about solving the difficult problems facing Israel, but there is one thing we are agreed on – freedom of expression and academic freedom are the very lifeblood of the academic system." Israel is not a democracy. It's a sham.

7/14/2010 - Obama Should Keep Bush's Word, But Bibi Needn't Keep Olmert's?
In effect, the Israeli right doesn’t want Israel to have negotiate its relations with its neighbors on its own. It wants America to impose a solution. Of course JINSA wouldn’t put it that way. JINSA is a neocon (pro-Israel) 'thinktank'.
7/14/2010 - Israel’s Nukes Harm US National Interests by John Mearsheimer
there’s no accountability for Israel on any issue. You don’t need opacity. If I went to the Middle East, and visited Israel, and I was killed, somebody shot me, do you think there would be any accountability? Seriously. If any of you went to the Middle East and were killed, do you think there would be accountability? There wouldn’t be. This is how outrageous this situation is. Just think about the [USS] Liberty, think about Rachel Corrie, think about this Turkish-American who was just killed on the flotilla.

7/14/2010 - The Unchallenged Power of the Israel Lobby
I quote Mr. Tenet here:
“All this weighed heavy on my mind as I walked beneath the awning that leads to the West Wing and saw Richard Perle exiting the building just as I was about to enter. Perle is one of the godfathers of the neoconservative movement and, at the time, was head of the Defense Policy Board, an independent advisory group attached to the Secretary of Defense. Ours was little more than a passing acquaintance. As the doors closed behind him, we made eye contact and nodded. I had just reached the door myself when Perle turned to me and said, 'Iraq has to pay a price for what happened yesterday. 'They bear responsibility.' (Italics added).
Perle is one of the neocons responsible for deliberately deceiving Americans into going to war with Iraq.

7/14/2010 - Bringing Judaism Out of the Home, and Into the Public Square
American Jews, of course, have long been champions of the strict separation of church and state. Individuals and communal institutions have successfully fought against school prayer, displays of religious symbols on public property and state funding for religious programs. This work is crucial in protecting against the privileging of certain religious groups over others, as well as in protecting religious organizations from state control. I just can't get over the irony and hypocrisy of the above excerpt. Jewish groups have fought to keep religion, mostly Christianity, out of government, but yet the state of Israel is a state based on religious supremacy, and a state that many of these same Jews make sure receives billions in American taxpayer aid. Unbelievable.
7/14/2010 - Passing of Shiite cleric Fadlallah spells trouble for Lebanon

7/7/2010 - Tax-Exempt Funds Aid Settlements in West Bank
HaYovel is one of many groups in the United States using tax-exempt donations to help Jews establish permanence in the Israeli-occupied territories — effectively obstructing the creation of a Palestinian state, widely seen as a necessary condition for Middle East peace. The result is a surprising juxtaposition: As the American government seeks to end the four-decade Jewish settlement enterprise and foster a Palestinian state in the West Bank, the American Treasury helps sustain the settlements through tax breaks on donations to support them......The Internal Revenue Service declined to discuss donations for West Bank settlements. State Department officials would comment only generally, and on condition of anonymity Settlements in occupied territory are a violation of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Conventions. In short, this is the financing of war crimes. This is a lengthy and unusually frank look at American money funneling into settlements.

This year, I recommend you spend a few minutes reading George Washington's Farewell Address, originally published in September 1796. Read the whole thing. Our first president has many wise things to tell us today, but none is more telling than his trenchant advice on the conduct of foreign policy Beware of the evils of the passionate attachment (in present times, this would be the attachment to Israel).
7/7/2010 - Petraeus emails show general scheming with journalist to get out pro-Israel storyline
Very interesting.
7/7/2010 - US questions its unwavering support for Israel
"This is starting to get dangerous for us. What you're doing here undermines the security of our troops who are fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. That endangers us and it endangers regional peace," Biden told Netanyahu. Americans need to get Congress back from chokehold of the Israeli lobby.
7/7/2010 - 'Israel trying to block U.S.-Saudi Arabia defense contract'
Israel, however, hopes that if the deal goes forward, Saudi Arabia will receive fewer advanced versions of the F-15 than those possessed by Israel, which seeks to maintain its air force's superiority. "Today these planes are against Iran, tomorrow they might turn against us," the source said.
7/7/2010 - Palestinian who planned Munich attack dies in Syria
A former leader of the Black September Palestinian guerrilla group, Abu Daoud said he planned the Munich hostage–taking in which 11 Israelis died. But Abu Daoud, who did not take part in the attack, said he was not directly responsible for the deaths. "I didn't kill anybody and I didn't order anybody's killing," Abu Daoud told Reuters 1999 after publishing memoirs in which he boasted of planning the abduction.
7/7/2010 - Executive Privilege by Philip Giraldi
the right of Americans to associate freely, guaranteed by the first amendment, can be limited by Congress and the White House if they disapprove of or criminalize the group you are associating with. The Supreme Court is curiously siding with the executive and legislature and denying that it has any right to uphold the constitution, which becomes, by that standard, truly just a piece of paper. The government can call anything a security threat and can proceed without restraint. Libertarians were dismayed by the ruling, but the Israel Lobby’s Anti Defamation League called the ruling "right on target.".....Lieberman, of course, has a particular passion for Israel and it is reasonable to assume that his ultimate intention might be to use the cyberwarfare justification combined with anti-terror legislation to shut down internet sites that provide news and commentary critical of the Benjamin Netanyahu government. Note Giraldi's comments on the bill to 'shut down the internet' in the face of 'danger' proposed by one of Israel's top agents, Lieberman.
7/7/2010 - Israel: Hezbollah storing weapons inside villages
The rare publication of what seemed to be detailed intelligence material appeared aimed at demonstrating Israel's reach and preparing public opinion for possible strikes inside villages and the attendant civilian casualties if a future round of fighting erupts.
7/7/2010 - Me, General Petraeus & The Lobby
Why the panic? Why the rush to consult neocon Max Boot? Why the nervousness?
7/7/2010 - General Petraeus’s leaked emails about Israel
In a gaffe that hasn't yet attracted the same amount of press as Stanley McChrystal's bizarre interview with Rolling Stone, Petraeus accidentally leaked an email exchange of his -- with the belligerent, neoconservative, pro-Israeli columnist Max Boot -- to an activist named James Morris, who then passed it on to the blogger Philip Weiss:
7/7/2010 - Neocons, Likud Conquer DC, Again
The clout of Washington’s neoconservatives and the political fear induced by Israel’s Likud hardliners were on display again with recently released e-mails in which Gen. David Petraeus grovels before a key neocon and in White House meetings at which President Obama pandered to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
7/7/2010 - Bibi's Trifecta: Reach Out to Turkey, Boost Fuad, Diss Lieberman
some influential American Jewish organizations are following Yvet’s lead on Turkey. They’re giving its envoys a cold shoulder and flooding the internets with bad stuff about Turkey, including sophomoric nastiness as well as criticism of behavior that they used to be the first to defend. This could be a case of American Jewish freelancing, using a sledge hammer while Israel approaches it with a scalpel. Or it could be that Bibi is using them as his own sledge hammer, getting them all worked up against those mean Turks as a little show of force while he quietly negotiates.
7/7/2010 - Israel and the Infinite Limits of US Patience : No Woodshed for Netanyahu
It may be in the interests of the US to restrain Israel but this is almost certainty not going to happen. The reason why is shown by the strange story of the attempt by General David Petraeus, now commander in Afghanistan, previously head of Central Command and America's most prestigious general, to put on the record the fact that US support for Israeli actions in the Middle East was endangering the safety of US troops. He reiterated this in written testimony before Congress in March.
But no sooner had General Petraeus done so than he was swiftly rowing back. The explanation for General Petraeus's swift turnaround suggests that he wants to keep open the option of running for the presidency as Republican candidate in 2012 and does not intend to alienate Jewish voters or militant neocons
7/7/2010 - Analysis: A critical US-Israel issue is left open
the hard–liners in Netanyahu's coalition government will probably not be won over. They have no interest in answering Palestinian demands for a freeze on settlement building in return for direct peace talks.
And that's still the critical issue between the U.S. and Israel, one neither Netanyahu nor Obama addressed after their fifth meeting since Obama took office 17 months ago.
7/7/2010 - Military official: Iran did not send radar to Syria
7/7/2010 - In Israel, Subsidies Not to Learn
I would note that such “schools” are in the same tradition as the Muslim madrassas so often criticized in the Western media. But about Israel most of our media is silent.
7/7/2010 - Does Israel Make Us Safer?
The history of Israel and its relationship with the U.S. is infinitely complex, but there’s one damning fact that’s ignored as often as The Question: There was not a single act of Arab terrorism against Americans before 1968, when the U.S. became the chief supplier of military equipment and economic aid to Israel.
7/7/2010 - American Opinion On Israel - And The Congress's
Interesting.
7/7/2010 - Islamo-fascism, Judaeo-fascism, Bapto-fascism, and Why We Need More Bars
The wheels are squeaking on the tumbrel methinks. At a recent conclave held by AIPAC, unease arose, reasonably enough, over eroding American support for Israel. What apparently did not arise was any indication of understanding of why support is eroding.
7/7/2010 - Epstein hopes Gazans will be ‘free to pursue their lives in dignity’
In 2003 I went to the Israeli-occupied West Bank for the first time and have been back there five times since, most recently with the Gaza flotilla. I have tried unsuccessfully four times to enter Gaza, but permission has repeatedly been denied. They say that I am a “security risk”! An 86-year-old woman! Hedy Epstein is a very brave individual.
7/7/2010 - Seven European Ships Will Join 2nd Gaza Aid Flotilla
The European Campaign to Lift Gaza Siege announced recently that seven European vessels will join the second Gaza aid Freedom Flotilla to break the Israeli blockade, Algerian Press Service (APS) reported.
7/7/2010 - Senators Raise Prospect of US Attack on Iran
Sen. Graham was even more blunt in his support for launching the war on Israel’s behalf, saying that “the Congress has Israel’s back.” Passionate attachment, right there.
7/7/2010 - Hebron - Freedom Flotilla release
Tear gas and rubber
bullets are a common response from the Israeli army; the CPT teams in
Palestine witness their brutality on a weekly basis. The only difference
now is that Israel is turning it's "security measures" against the
international community.
7/7/2010 - Israel's Foes Embrace New Resistance Tactics
7/7/2010 - Israel’s Stealth Foreign Minister
While Lieberman on June 29 again completely rejected the goal of a negotiated agreement on a Palestinian state by 2012, as urged by the United States, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations, Barak has begun speaking out in recent months about the clock ticking against Israel.
7/7/2010 - Histories Again Collide On the Hills of Jerusalem
Siyam also criticizes Elad’s role in bringing Jewish residents to Wadi Hilwah, claiming that Elad has a “transfer agenda” in that it wishes to see Palestinians leave Wadi Hilwah. “Elad is using all methods in order to make a Jewish majority in Wadi Hilwah,” he claimed, questioning the morality of some of the methods used to acquire properties, including the Absentee Property Law, according to which Israel can seize the property of Arabs who fled to enemy countries after the 1948 and 1967 wars.
7/7/2010 - Labor Minister, Ex-Gen. 'Fuad' Ben-Eliezer: Time's Up. World Is Tired of Us. Bibi Must Decide
The next morning, when I went down to breakfast, there was a very senior representative of one of the Western delegations standing a few meters from me, between the tomatoes and the cucumber. “A gang of animals,” he said about us. The world has changed disks and we haven’t caught on yet.
7/7/2010 - Fury as Methodists vote to boycott Israel
The Board of Deputies and the Jewish Leadership Council said the Methodists’ annual conference should “hang its head in shame” for passing a policy which calls for a boycott of goods from “illegal” Israeli West Bank settlements and blames Israeli occupation as the “key hindrance” to Middle East peace. Oh dear.
7/7/2010 - Iran moves radar to Syria: US official
Iran has moved radar to Syria that could provide early–warning against a possible surprise Israeli air attack against Tehran's nuclear sites, a US defense official said on Friday.
7/7/2010 - Sean Hannity Displays His True Colors - Blue and White (Israeli Flag) When Caller Mentions USS Liberty
Sean Hannity evidently went full throttle into 'defend Israel' mode and proceeded to repeat the Israeli propaganda regarding that incident, rather than stick up for the AMERICAN (sailors) that were viciously attacked.
7/7/2010 - Peoplehood Vs Israel
If that is true, then the “for us or against us” crowd is harming Israel’s interests in the long run, too. Because while the Jewish community may be tighter, more unified and more supportive of Israel as a result of excluding those whose views are too treyf, one thing is for sure: It will definitely be smaller.
7/7/2010 - Guns belonging to Israel PM's security detail 'missing'
Four guns went missing and were believed to have been stolen from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security detail after American Airlines lost luggage containing the weapons, NBC reported.
7/7/2010 - Bikini Models Protest Vodka Ad Ban in Brooklyn Hasidic Jewish Communities
Dozens of bikini-clad women and upset New York residents congregated outside New York City's public transit headquarters on Tuesday to protest the transport authority’s recent decision to ban a popular Georgi Vodka ad campaign, which features models donning sexy swimsuits, from appearing on buses that travel through certain neighborhoods in Brooklyn that are primarily populated by Hasidic Jewish communities I thought only the Islamists were the ones offended by women's unclothed bodies?

6/30/2010 - Children in West Bank facing worse conditions than in Gaza
Israel's restrictions on Palestinian access to and development of agricultural land – in an area where almost all families are herders - mean that thousands of children are going hungry and are vulnerable to killer illnesses like diarrhoea and pneumonia.
6/30/2010 - Sinking Ship - The attack on the Gaza relief flotilla jeopardizes Israel itself. By John J. Mearsheimer
It is easy to see why. Because the United States gives Israel so much support and U.S. politicians routinely laud the “special relationship” in the most lavish terms, people around the globe naturally associate the United States with Israel’s actions. Unfortunately, this makes huge numbers of people in the Arab and Islamic world furious with the United States for supporting Israel’s cruel treatment of the Palestinians. That anger in turn helps fuel terrorism against America. Remember that the 9/11 Commission Report, which describes Khalid Sheik Muhammad as the “principal architect of the 9/11 attacks,” concludes that his “animus toward the United States stemmed not from his experiences there as a student, but rather from his violent disagreement with U.S. foreign policy favoring Israel.” Osama bin Laden’s hostility toward the United States was fuelled in part by this same concern.
An absolutely superb piece by Mearsheimer. If you're American (like me), please read it.

6/30/2010 - Palestinian family fears Gaza expulsion
The Helou family is so worried about getting expelled to Gaza by Israeli authorities that they’re all but trapped in Jenin.
They couldn’t even leave to get their disabled son the best possible surgery to let him walk.
Some 20,000 Palestinians in the West Bank live under the same fear, because they hold residency papers from the Gaza Strip and Israeli authorities refuse to allow their papers to be updated – though they have lived in the West Bank for years.
6/30/2010 - US Approves New Iran Sanctions
The pro-Israel lobby American Israel Public Affairs committee (AIPAC) praised the sanctions, saying they “provide the best hope that political and economic measures can peaceably persuade Iran to end its illicit nuclear program before it is too late.”
AIPAC is pulling the strings.
6/30/2010 - Palestinians seek new partner: American Jews
"I think it's a mistake to ignore these institutions and communities by saying that they are against us, and that we should not talk to them," Abbas told The Associated Press. "No, we should sit with them, and we should try to convince them by talking to them."
And there's nobody better for the job than Mahmoud Abbas. It's too bad that those extremists in the pro-Israeli camp will never accept a word he says.
6/30/2010 - Rival Hamas, UN summer camps compete over children
The U.N. says it hopes to help shield Gaza's children against the lure of militancy, a task that's getting harder in the impoverished territory. Educators say today's children are more vulnerable than the previous generation, having witnessed war with Israel last year, internal Palestinian fighting and the violent Hamas takeover in 2007, followed by an Israeli–Egyptian blockade that has virtually cut Gaza off from the outside world

This year, the first female Palestinian governor was appointed to oversee the West Bank district of Ramallah. The mayor of the district's main city is a woman, as are four ministers in the Palestinian Cabinet.

He said that he considers Chief of Staff Ashkenazi a “personal friend” and that he always tries to share Israel’s view of threats against the country.
6/30/2010 - Is Benjamin Netanyahu Rational? by Philip Giraldi
Israel appears to have little concern about doing whatever is necessary to drag the United States down with it if that is what is required. It is we Americans who should be fearful. Each American should be very concerned about what Bibi is actually thinking, particularly as our Congress and media have already been bought and occupied and we have a president who is so unsure of the support of his own party that he is afraid to face down an Israeli prime minister. I encourage my fellow Americans to heed (former CIA) Philip Giraldi's words.

Earlier Thursday, the Council of Europe parliamentarians called on Israel to completely end its siege of the Gaza Strip, days after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered an ease of the land blockade, which it imposed in 2007.

Until Theodore Herzl created the modern Zionist movement early in the 20th century, the biblical injunction to return to Israel was widely understood as a theological construct rather than a pragmatic instruction.
Most Orthodox Jewish leaders before the Holocaust rejected Zionism, saying the exile was a divine punishment and Israel could be restored only in the messianic age. The Reform movement maintained that Judaism is a religion, not a nationality.

6/30/2010 - Punishing Turkey by Philip Giraldi
The Gaza flotilla has been handled by the mainstream media in precisely that fashion – blaming the victim with a unanimity that overwhelms both justice and fairness. No humanity, no mention of the deliberate attempt to starve Gaza most recently endorsed by alleged United States Senator from New York Charles Schumer who said "strangle them economically." Or, if one prefers the wisdom of Representative Eliot Engel, also from New York, the flotilla was "filled with hate-filled provocateurs bent on violence." Punishing Turkey - all because of Israel.

6/30/2010 - THE REAL SEAN HANNITY
a man called into Hannity’s radio talk show on Friday June 25th, and politely informed him he was disappointed that Hannity showed a bit too much biased obsequiousness, often referring to Israel as “Americas greatest ally” and refusing to admit any inequities. The caller pointed out that it was Israeli fighter jets which bombed the U.S.S Liberty and killed American sailors, and that nearly all, if not all, those aboard the vessel claimed it was an obviously intentional act.
However, Hannity would not even consider the man’s statements as objectively inquisitive and instead began insinuating that the caller was a “conspiracy theorist.” The sober disappointment could be heard in the caller’s voice as he respectfully requested that Hannity just research the incident.

Who says Peter Beinart was wrong?

Jewish groups, working with congressional leaders, are pressing to designate one of the main organizers of the humanitarian flotilla that sought to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza as a terrorist group.....meanwhile, New York-area Congress members and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater New York are also urging the administration to deny visas to passengers on the Mavi Marmara who have been invited to speak in the United States about what they experienced........For Jewish groups, going after the IHH is one of three main goals set forth in the aftermath of the incident, alongside gaining U.S. support for Israel’s attempts to avoid an international investigation and fighting Israel’s public relations war in American media. Afraid the truth will get out?

At a time when many countries are becoming more critical of Israel's policies, Canada seems to be moving in the opposite direction. At a press conference, the congressmen expressed concern over Ankara's deepening ties with Iran at the expense of those with its traditional ally Israel. Why that's a heck of a coincidence? Capitol Hill recently did the same thing. I wonder if that's becasue Capitol Hill is the second branch of the Israeli Knesset? Methinks so.

She went on to say, "I mean, this is the longest occupation in the world. People are suffering. I've been to the West Bank in Gaza twice so I've seen for myself what's going on." A reminder: Canada's Israel lobby is about second to ours. Davies spoke the truth. For that, she is now the victim of the latest witchhunt. She should not have apologized.

6/23/2010 - Chuck Schumer, Helen Thomas, & the Media A tale of two statements
As Thomas was shamed away from her career, Schumer was applauded for supporting the “economically strangling” blockade of Gaza. Not only are Schumer’s words offensive, they are also ironic, not to mention illogical. In advocating “economically strangling” policies, Schumer is supporting a ghettoized, open-air prison classified by the Geneva Conventions as “collective punishment.” While Helen Thomas is condemned for her insensitivity towards collective punishment incurred in Poland and Germany during the Holocaust, Senator Schumer can advocate for the literal and figurative starvation of Gaza.

The fact that the ADL was in effect protecting another country against the charge of genocide is more than a little ironic, but who ever said that political organizations had to be ethically consistent? Once relations between Israel and Turkey began to fray, however -- fueled primarily by Turkish anger over Israel's treatment of the Palestinians -- the ADL and AIPAC withdrew their protection and Congressional defenders of Israel began switching sides, too. .......The neocons have turned from friends of Turkey to foes for one simple reason: Israel.....whether a state is democratic or not matters little for the neocons; what matters for them is whether a state backs Israel or not Great article.

So an "occupation" becomes a "dispute". Thus a "wall" becomes a "fence" or "security barrier". Thus Israeli acts of colonization of Arab land, contrary to all international law, become "settlements" or "outposts" or "Jewish neighborhoods". It was Colin Powell, in his starring, powerless appearance as Secretary of State to George W Bush, who told US diplomats to refer to occupied Palestinian land as "disputed land" - and that was good enough for most of the US media

6/23/2010 - The Flotilla Probe
Critically, the panel’s narrow mandate won’t permit it to answer all the questions that need answering. It won’t be allowed to interview military personnel other than the army chief of staff; that means it can’t provide credible answers to the burning question of who attacked first. It won’t look seriously into the government decision-making processes leading up to the fiasco. It will examine the legality of Israeli actions leading up to the ship’s capture, but apparently not the underlying legality (nor the effectiveness) of the blockade that the raid sought to enforce.
