Israeli influence in America
The links on this page are not even the half of it. I have thousands of older ones that I have not yet combed through, and likely won't have the time to.
06-01-07 - Beyond friendship For Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, going to Israel is about building friendships with a vital U.S. ally, an essential stepping stone for any ambitious American politician......To Wexler, an 11-year veteran of Capitol Hill, one of the larger meanings of Crist's trip to Israel is obvious. It should disgust you that our politicians have to kowtow to a foreign nation in order to be a serious candidate for high office here.
06-01-07 - Gov. Charlie Crist gets Israeli military, security assessment Crist was greeted by visiting Floridians. "He's doing a great job," said Ellen Miller, 75, who was there with her husband, Ralph, 78, from Palm Beach Gardens. For whom?
06-01-07 - About a dozen U.S. lawmakers in Israel Hastings, a past president of the OSCE parliamentary assembly and a senior member of the House Intelligence Committee, also met with top Israeli intelligence officials Keep all but Hagel there. Let Tel Aviv start paying their salaries. A note on Hastings.
05-31-07 - Does 'The Decider' Decide on War? by Patrick J. Buchanan ** Has Congress given George Bush a green light to attack Iran?.....evidence is mounting that we are on a collision course for war:........While U.S.-Iran discussions have begun, there are reports Vice President Cheney and the neocon remnant, along with the Israelis, are opposed to talks and believe that the only solution to Iran's nuclear program is military. Go get 'em, Pat.
05-31-07 - Crist tours holy sites, shapes trade deal The meetings with government leaders were arranged by Wexler, who is Jewish and among the strongest supporters of Israel in Congress. So while Crist heard from Peres that Palestinians were given Gaza but had not given Israel peace, and from Netanyahu that he would attack Gaza's infrastructure to punish Palestinians for continued rocket attacks, Florida's governor heard no one present the Palestinian viewpoints that Israel has yet to dismantle most of its settlements in the West Bank or that it has destroyed much of Gaza's infrastructure and its citrus orchards.
05-31-07 - Florida, Israel team for trade program Florida's governor in Israel announced a multimillion-dollar program to encourage trade between the Sunshine State and the Jewish state. Maybe the spider bite was god's punishment?
05-31-07 - Leading reps, Livni discuss Iran Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) ended a joint visit to Israel on Thursday. Keep those two there, and send over Lantos and others. Let Israel start paying their salary. For, that's who they really work for, not us.
05-31-07 - Poll review: Americans consistently favor Israel A 2006 Pew Survey also found that the United States far outpaces other nations in support for Israel. The only other nation in that survey where sympathy for Israel substantially outpaced sympathy for the Palestinians was Germany.
Why, you may ask? The Israel lobby and all that comes with it (in the media too).
05-31-07 - PM, Bush to discuss Iran, PA on June 19 ** Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will meet with U.S. President George Bush in Washington on June 19. Talks will focus on the Palestinian issue and the Iranian nuclear threat.
05-30-07 - Six days of war, 40 years of secrecy This statement by Stephen Forslund (US Air Force intelligence analyst) is clear enough: "The transcripts made specific reference to the efforts to direct the jets to the target, which was identified as American numerous times by the ground controller. The ground control began asking about the status of the target and whether it was sinking. They stressed that the target must be sunk and leave no trace." These men and the families of those that were killed deserve to have their day in court. Who in their right mind would want this travesty of justice to remain so? This is a great article, and one that will never ever be replicated in any mainstream US news medium. The Israeli lobby makes sure of that.
05-30-07 - Sheriff Griffin learns about security in Israel The Israelization of America continues.
05-30-07 - Israeli charity an option in federal program An Israeli health support group has been selected to participate in a U.S. government program that allows federal employees to make contributions.
05-30-07 - Remember the Liberty! "If Israel did deliberately attack the most powerful nation on Earth, it knows it can do so and get away with murder. Worse still, U.S. military personnel now know that if the truth is politically inconvenient, they and their legacy are expendable." There is no 'if' about it. That flag was flying that day, as per the testimony of the sailors on board. And I take THEIR word over that of the ATTACKERS (a FOREIGN nation), as one would THINK that our government would do as well. Not so. Israel got away with not just murder, but war crimes. In the not so recent past, Israel got away with it again. Our government does NOTHING, even if the face of this: But instead of punishing the attackers, Israel honors them in a museum. Told of the display, retired Air Force Major General John Morrison, NSA deputy director for operations at the time, commented, "I am offended by that." And retired Army Lieutenant General William Odom, NSA director from 1985 to 1988, and also unaware of the display, remarked, "I am astonished that Israel should put glory on the people who killed my SigInt-ers [signals intelligence personnel]."10 The Liberty's blood-stained flag is exhibited at the National Cryptologic Museum in Fort Meade, Maryland. The US Naval Institute has evidently taken that article down. Thanks to the Internet Archiver, it lives on.
05-29-07 - Gov. Crist begins 5-day tour of Israel Crist's meetings with Israeli officials were set up by his friend, U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Delray Beach. who is among Israel's strongest supporters in Congress.
05-29-07 - Bush administration makes case for security assistance to Abbas Meanwhile, he said, residents of the community led by Hamas "are going to see what's going on in the community next door that's receiving help from the United States." Eventually, Ward said, "we might see a different result" in Palestinian elections. There's the Israeli-version(subsequently, that of the US as a result) of democracy for you!
05-29-07 - A tale of two countries It's interesting to see how shocked people are at first when they realize the full extent of the grip that the Israeli lobby has on our government. I was there, four years ago. I know exactly what they feel. It's one of the most Orwellian things I've ever seen; the entire picture- Israel, Palestinians, Israeli lobby, neocons.
05-29-07 - AIPAC Intervenes on Iran ** It has happened again, and in the open. The American Israeli Political Action Committee (AIPAC) which heads a network of pro-Israeli lobbies, persuaded Congress to drop a provision which would have required President Bush to ask for Congressional approval prior to attacking Iran.
05-27-07 - Crist's trip to Israel could pay off now and on the trail when pressed, Wexler acknowledged what many others agree to privately: that a trip to the troubled Middle East helps build a foreign policy portfolio for someone with an eye on higher office......"It's a rite of passage," one top legislator said privately about politicians making a "pilgrimage" to Israel - a journey important not only to Jewish Americans but to fundamentalist Christians who see the country as key to biblical prophesy. Politicians must campaign in Israel.
05-26-07 - Democrats Dither As Cheney, Neocons Plot To Nuke Iran ** Now that the US invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan have failed, the AEI warmongers are conspiring with Vice President Cheney to foment war with Iran.
05-26-07 - Iran is nuclear threat, says Israeli general ** Maj. Gen. Dan Harel, the Israeli Defense Forces' defense and armed forces attache in Washington, D.C., was a guest speaker at Temple Beth Jacob's Shabbas service. In his remarks, he said Iran is "the most worrying" of three fronts with which Israel is dealing right now.
05-25-07 - Ros-Lehtinen, Wexler join Fla. Delegation to Israel Said Ros-Lehtinen, "This visit offers us an opportunity to learn more about the economic and security challenges confronting our two great countries in a region vital to our own national interests." Move Washington to Tel Aviv and be done with it.
05-25-07 - Jewish Reps target arms sales to Saudis U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) plan to introduce legislation blocking the sale of missile technology to Saudi Arabia. Remember now, it was only some weeks back that Israel registered its displeasure at the US selling arms to the Saudis - which is no doubt what prompted this move.
05-25-07 - Bush reappoints 10 to heritage commission The ten individuals re-named this week to terms ending in 2010 are: Andrew Klein, the chairman of the Jewish National Fund's mid-Atlantic zone; Robert Zarnegin a California developer who is prominent in the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces; Steven Some of New Jersey, a lobbyist and a member of the Republican Jewish Coalition,
05-25-07 - House to consider Jerusalem, Ahmadinejad resolutions The committee's chairman, Rep. Tom Lantos (D-Calif.), sponsored the resolution on Jerusalem, which "commends Israel for its administration of the undivided city of Jerusalem for the past 40 years, during which Israel has respected the rights of all religious groups" and calls on President Bush to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.
05-25-07 - House to consider nuclear bank The legislation, proposed first by Rep. Tom Lantos (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, was referred by the committee to the full House on Wednesday. It is aimed at calling Iran's bluff Lantos is Israel's head agent on Capitol Hill.

05-25-07 - Israel extended invitation to join OECD The OECD extended the invitation Wednesday after years of lobbying by the U.S. government and Congress and more recently, by Turkey
05-25-07 - Prosecutors drop secret trial demand in AIPAC case
05-24-07 - JPost.com special feature: The Road to the White House A sick display of our politicians groveling to and ensuring the safety of - A FOREIGN NATION.
05-24-07 - Evidence Declassified in Aipac Case
05-23-07 - Reps salute Japan on Hamas stand Thirteen members of Congress signed a letter commending Japan for withholding aid to Hamas until it renounces violence and accepts Israel. Our representatives evidently have nothing better to do than to work on behalf of a foreign nation.
05-23-07 - Rice urged to look at Gaza smuggling Initiated by Sens. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) and Mary Landrieu (D-La.), the letter says the Gaza-Egyptian border has become a major arms conduit, with shipments of high-grade explosives increasing six-fold from 2005 to 2006, from five tons to 30 million tons.
05-22-07 - Hersh: Bush administration arranged support for militants attacking Lebanon When asked why the administration would be acting in a way that appears to run counter to US interests, Hersh says that, since the Israelis lost to them last summer, "the fear of Hezbollah in Washington, particularly in the White House, is acute."
05-21-07 - JNF barred access to key UN council Leading up to the vote, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) joined a bipartisan effort led by Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pennsylvania) and Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Arizona) to urge the UN to grant the JNF-US the same rights of access enjoyed by the other NGOs. The supremacism of the JNF is described in paragraph 8 in this article.
05-21-07 - Clinton leads in fund raising, but Jews are backing all Dems Major Jewish donors also are backing former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina and the "second tier" of candidates, including Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, because of their loyalty to Israel and Jewish issues over the years........Clinton has spent her six years in the U.S. Senate reaching out to Jewish groups on nearly every domestic and foreign issue that the community embraces. She was a leader in getting homeland security funds to Jewish institutions and has taken the lead in demanding changes in Palestinian textbooks that would reflect the reality of Israel's existence.
05-21-07 - GOP hopeful's slur recalled "By far the most powerful lobby in Washington of the bad sort is the Israeli government," Ron Paul wrote in a 1992 newsletter to constituents and quoted in a 1996 article in the Houston Chronicle. Paul also said Zionists stifle criticism, the Chronicle reported.
"slur"? LOL. Paul is SPOT ON. Read the last paragraph. The Israel shills have now ramped up their campaign to SLUR Paul in light of the recent successful performances he has given at the debates.
05-21-07 - House OKs closer U.S.-Israel missile defense Another amendment, initiated by Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), requires the Pentagon to integrate the Israeli and U.S. ballistic missile defense systems to better protect Israel against possible attacks by Iran. Thus does the clusterf$ck get ever tighter.
05-21-07 - U.S. firm fined for abiding by Arab boycott The U.S. Department of Commerce fined a toolmaker for illegally complying with an Arab boycott of Israel. No other country is afforded this luxury. In other words, the only country that it is illegal to boycott IN THIS COUNTRY is Israel. It was a result of the Arab oil embargo of the early 70s - the real reason for which is unknown to most Americans.
05-21-07 - Israel Should Give Up 'Not One Inch' of Land, GOP Presidential Candidate Says Addressing a Christian Zionist meeting in Alexandria, Va., Sunday evening
05-21-07 - U.S. House seeks tighter U.S.-Israeli ballistic missile defenses ** The United States House of Representatives has adopted a measure aimed at weaving closer U.S. and Israeli defenses against ballistic missiles of the type that could be fired by Iran. Part of a $504 billion defense spending bill passed Thursday, the measure would redirect $205 million in Defense Department funds toward projects already underway in Israel. The humble American taxpayer is a servant to the state of Israel. Billions of our taxpayer dollars, both directly and indirectly go toward the security of a foreign nation - in contravention of our OWN interests.
05-19-07 - History keeps Hastings close to Judaism In his speeches to Jewish organizations, Hastings stresses three major themes: tolerance, support for Israel, and a call for action against genocide in places such as Darfur. Help me out here, which country was he elected to serve?
05-19-07 - Hoenlein says US elite being 'poisoned' against Israel "Today it is no longer PC to say they hate Jews, so they say they hate Israel and Zionism, but we know what they mean," To the contrary, more Americans are rejecting the knee-jerk slur of 'anti-Semite' leveled at the slightest criticism of Israel (the latter of which is well-deserved).
05-18-07 - House rejects funding caveat on Iran ** The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which favors a robust posture against any possible Iranian nuclear threat, strongly opposed the amendments. Two Jewish members close to AIPAC, Reps. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.) and Gary Ackerman (D-N.Y.), had kept similar language from appearing in the bill?s original text. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the House speaker, allowed the amendments to go forward to placate anti-war Democrats.
05-18-07 - Haaretz: Poll: 71% of Israelis want U.S. to strike Iran if talks fail ** Fully 71 percent of Israelis believe that the United States should launch a military attack on Iran if diplomatic efforts fail to halt Tehran's nuclear program, according to a new poll. A similar article also appears on Newsmax: Israeli Poll: U.S. Should Strike Iran
05-18-07 - Conservatives Push Joint Israeli-U.S. BMDS The Democratic-controlled House passed its version of the fiscal 2008 defense authorization legislation May 17, including a last-minute provision pushed by conservative Republicans to further integrate the U.S. ballistic missile defense system (BMDS) with Israel. Thus does the America-Israel clusterf*#k deepen, thanks to its agents on Capitol Hill.
05-17-07 - 'Israel-US relations vital for security' The vast majority of Israelis believe that the relationship with the US is crucial to Israel's survival, and trust the US to come to its aid in time of need, according to a poll released by the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies of Bar-Ilan University and the Anti-Defamation League on Thursday.
05-17-07 - Obama to Haaretz: More pressure on Iran urgently needed "Iran continues to be a major threat," he told me Wednesday morning, "both the U.S. and to some of our allies."........In some of these initiatives AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobby, is also playing a role.
05-16-07 - Pastor John Hagee's D.C. Meeting Worries Jews ** Pastor John Hagee says Armageddon will soon strike the nation of Israel, so he's enlisting Christians to help protect Israel against an attack from Iran.
05-16-07 - Father of Christian Zionism Leaves the Building "Jewish-evangelical relations had become so close by the early '80s that, immediately after Israel bombed Iraq's nuclear reactor in 1981, Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin telephoned Moral Majority leader Rev. Jerry Falwell before calling President Ronald Reagan to ask Falwell to 'explain to the Christian public the reasons for the bombing'."
05-15-07 - Bill targets Gaza killers of Americans The bill has a strong start: Lantos chairs the House's Foreign Affairs committee, Pence is its ranking member and Ackerman chairs its Middle East subcommittee. But the Israeli killers of Americans go unpunished. That suits our Congress just fine.
05-15-07 - Philanthropists rally in support of Israel Caucus Big-name donors in Boston?s Jewish community are financially backing a pro-Israel Harvard University group in an effort to improve attitudes toward the Jewish state on college campuses Hasbara.
05-14-07 - ZOA Criticizes Bush Administration For Not Attending Israel's Jerusalem Day Festivities Despite this development, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said yesterday that he would seek to expand the borders of Jerusalem and that he hoped for eventual world acceptance of Israeli sovereignty over the entire city. Good luck. Nobody is willing to recognize wholesale theft (except maybe the AIPAC-beholden US government, and that will change one day).
05-14-07 - Khalilzad: U.S. must transform Mideast Speaking before Khalilzad, Rabbi David Zwiebel, Agudah?s executive vice president for government and public affairs, said Bush was one of Israel's greatest friends ever in the White House and deserves "everlasting credit" for his leadership after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
05-13-07 - Zarelli plans conference on U.S.-Israeli relations Republican state Sen. Joe Zarelli of Ridgefield found something more controversial than sex education. Mideast politics......Zarelli, who visited Israel in early January, said he has two goals for the conference: Promote ties with Israel and "enlighten" attendees about the countries' mutual security interests
05-12-07 - Rattling the Cage: Bush and his good intentions ** I WANT to give Bush his due. There may have been other presidents who cared as deeply about Israel as he does - I'd put Bill Clinton, at least, in that category - but I don't think any president ever took sides with Israel against the rest of the world like Bush has done......And I only hope that this mutual reinforcement number that Bush and Israel have been playing stops short of a US attack on Iran. A lot of Israelis, maybe most, want Bush to do the job, and I imagine Bush is once again calculating the collateral benefit to Israel. As always, he has our best interests at heart. This notion that America is ordering Israel not to negotiate with Syria is utterly ridiculous. Not only was it denied by our officials(paragraph 3), but the case is almost always the other way around; Israel dictating to us its wants (and getting them).
05-12-07 - Debaters debate stifling debate Debaters arguing that the pro-Israel lobby stifles debate won a debate at the Oxford Union. The debate took place in BRITAIN - where debate about Israel is much more open, AND coincidentally, Britain's Israel lobby is not nearly as powerful as America's. When I speak of the powerful Israel lobby, I speak of the one in AMERICA. Not sure how this was ever meant to involve that of Britain. Tis America's Israel lobby that guides our foreign policy to the detriment of all. Having this debate IN ANOTHER COUNTRY defeats the purpose.
05-12-07 - AIPAC to pay Weissman's legal fees Ellis accepted the defense's claim that the government had pressured AIPAC, something the pro-Israel lobby has always denied; Ellis blasted the pressure as "obnoxious." This pressure actually spared AIPAC from coming under government fire, which was BS in my opinion. Let them roast as well. They do not represent America and they should be forced to register as a foreign agent.
05-12-07 - Judge: Government pressured AIPAC
05-11-07 - Pro-Israel group counters anti-occupation group The two ads by Stand With Us, which will appear in 20 downtown Washington metro stations, accuse the Palestinians of failing to be a partner for peace. One, which features Palestinian children marching with loaded sub-machineguns, says, "Teaching children to hate will never lead to peace." Strange that only a few months back they found that these ads were not worthy of a response. Scared are we? GOOD.
05-11-07 - Lawmakers circulate letter on Japan The letter, initiated by Reps. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), Steven Rothman (D-N.J.) and Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), was prompted by a report in Yomiuri, a major Japanese daily, that Japan was considering ending its participation in West's isolation of the Palestinian Authority while it's governed by Hamas, a terrorist group that rejects Israel's existence.
Our legislators evidently have nothing better to do than write letters on behalf of a nation other than the one that they were elected to serve.
05-10-07 - Bush nominates RJC leader as envoy Siegel, a regional president for the Jewish National Fund, is a major Bush fund-raiser
05-09-07 - U.S. Congress Focuses Attention on Jewish Refugees from Arab Countries In commenting on a lack of awareness about Jewish refugees, Rep. Ackerman added that "Jewish refugees have been successfully absorbed in Israel and elsewhere and, perhaps, as a result, their claims and misfortune have been largely ignored." Rep. Pence concurred: "There is a great deal of world opinion about one group of refugees (i.e. Palestinians). There is a great deal of world ignorance about the other (i.e. Jewish refugees)." Thus does the US Congress again engage in a form of supremacy by holding one group of people supreme over another. Let's all focus on the ones that were settled in long ago, and that aren't still sitting in poverty in refugee camps after 60 years. That's it. That's the ticket.
05-09-07 - Major ZOA Lecture: MK Gen. Effie Eitam Warned -- "Israel Will Take Action If Diplomacy/Sanctions Fail" To Stop Iran Getting Nuclear Bomb ** ?I pray that this country [the USA] which has so many times led a world coalition against evil, will wake up and not accept a nuclear Iran for its long-term existence. Recently, I spoke to the U.S. National Security Council (NSC). I was invited to give my views, the invitation came from U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv. I was told at the NSC, ?We believe we missed some important views by failing to discover the views of right-wing Israelis.
05-09-07 - UConn puts UAE campus on hold The University of Connecticut froze plans to open a campus in the United Arab Emirates after state legislators complained that the country bars Israelis from visiting. "after state legislators complained that the country bars Israelis from visiting."
05-09-07 - 700 lobby for Israel The activists are touting four legislative initiatives: U.S. funding for Israel; isolating Iran; bringing genocide charges against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; and U.S.-Israel energy cooperation.
05-09-07 - 'This House believes the pro-Israeli lobby has successfully stifled Western debate about Israel's actions.' First off, this 'debate' gave the floor to the pro-Israeli commentators for most of the video. It's actually pretty ridiculous that this should be considered a debate. Finkelstein and Cockburn were routinely interrupted and shut down by Aaronovitch and Indyk, and they were not afforded much time at all to speak. Secondly, the pro-Israeli lobby in Britain is not nearly as effective or as powerful as its counterpart in the US. THAT must be kept in mind when watching this debate.
05-08-07 - AIPAC on Trial FBI gave Franklin enough rope to hang himself, and then moved in, showing up at his door and confronting him with his treachery. A search of his home and office turned up a veritable lending library of classified documents dating back years, all of which had doubtless been made available to the Israelis
05-08-07 - Israeli airport security methods studied Foreigners almost automatically receive closer scrutiny, and racial or other types of profiling can trigger extensive questioning and searching.
The Israelis believe this is one of the keys to their success, and the airport officials from the U.S. could only speculate about how it would affect their work.
05-08-07 - True to form, the Associated Press picks up PMW propaganda Was a matter of when, not if. The Israeli Lobby's hold on the media at work.
05-08-07 - Immigration Issues, Global Anti-Semitism And Israel Top Agenda of ADL National Meeting in Washington, DC Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff discussed the need to balance the interests of protecting the homeland and the imperative of providing a path for legal immigration. Secretary Chertoff also discussed his department's partnership with ADL's Advanced Training School, which provides specialized training and expertise to agency personnel on extremism, hate groups, terrorism and civil liberties.
05-08-07 - Judge lauded for rebuke in AIPAC case The American Jewish Committee praised the judge in the case against two former AIPAC staffers for rebuking the government
05-08-07 - Ackerman: Bush 'right of return' letter unwise "Attempting to force Palestinians to give up their dreams in a vacuum would not only be ineffectual but counterproductive," said Ackerman, who has close ties to the pro-Israel lobby.........Much of the hearing focused on the Jewish refugees Naturally.
05-07-07 - US university halts move to UAE over its policy towards Israel The paper said it obtained confirmation from the University of Connecticut that it halted plans to open up a campus in the emirate of Dubai following concerns raised by politicians and pressure groups in the US who oppose the UAE's policy towards Israel.
05-07-07 - Delegation learns airport security in Israel A delegation representing several major U.S. airports is in Israel to learn about security practices Thus does the Israelization of America continue.
05-06-07 - US-Israel disharmony This is not necessarily the last chord: If Israel doesn't immediately take vigorous and smart moves towards both the Administration and Congress alike, we shouldn't be surprised if the US agrees to board the Saudi wagon and accept the "Saudi Peace Initiative" as a basis for an agreement with the Palestinians. The horror.
05-04-07 - Hearing shows Israel at crux of U.S. missile defense plan ** The May 3 session also dropped a bombshell: A senior congressman claimed that an Iranian crew was behind the missile attack on an Israeli Navy ship off Lebanon's coast last summer that killed four Israeli seamen.
05-04-07 - JAFI sells MASA to top colleges Career advisors from seven top American universities are touring Israel with the Jewish Agency for Israel to learn about the MASA program.
05-04-07 - Senate presses OECD on Israel The U.S. Senate overwhelmingly voted to urge the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development to accept Israel as a member.
05-04-07 - GOP contenders: Nuke threat justifies strike ** "If there is a threat to the existence of the State of Israel, which is by the way I think a potential threat to the existence of the United States, then you have to come to the aid of Israel," Tancredo said. These folks have forgotten which country they were elected to serve. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say anything about defending Israel. Moreover, it's ridiculous to suggest that our existence is threatened because Israel's is. Preposterous.
05-04-07 - Judge in trial of former AIPAC staffers rips prosecution for delays The judge warned that there could be consequences for the prosecution if it did not do as he told them.
05-02-07 - Closing The Halliburton Loophole This week Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) introduced legislation intended to close a loophole in existing Iran sanctions that has allowed some American companies ? including Halliburton, Vice President Dick Cheney?s former employer ? to continue doing business with Iran?s oil sector despite U.S. and international sanctions.
.....His measure is backed by AIPAC ? which is putting its legislative might behind the Iran Counter Proliferation Act.....Jewish organizations across the country are scrambling to get in their applications, now that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released long-delayed funds appropriated by Congress .....Nathan Diament, Washington representative for the Orthodox Union, also praised the DHS action, adding that the new guidelines ?track our preference for threat-based assessments.? There have been concerns that the department has distributed some homeland security money without respect to the level of threat facing institutions applying for grants; that will change under the new guidelines, Diament said. A rare moment of conflict between neocon-supporter(Cheney) and Israel-defenders. Cheney and the neocons have a mutually beneficial relationship. Both sides profit from the wars in the region, and the policy is geared towards making it a safer place for Israel (even though the Iraq war has failed to do so, but that was the primary reason for it).
05-02-07 - New York judge clears Israeli in war crimes suit The target of the bombing was Hamas leader Saleh Shehada, but the strike also killed 14 Palestinian civilians, including nine children, and wounded many others.....Israel and the U.S. State Department had petitioned the court to grant Dichter's motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
05-02-07 - For Barack Obama, a careful courting of Jewish vote By last week, however, the references to Palestinian suffering and Israeli heavy-lifting were gone, replaced by a less nuanced pro-Israel stance nearly indistinguishable from that of his chief rival for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.
Our politicians, particularly would-be presidents, must bow down and pledge their unwavering allegiance - to Israel. Ridiculous.
05-02-07 - A High Price to Pay for Ignorance by Philip Giraldi ** Multiple carrier groups in the Persian Gulf can only mean that another preemptive war, this time against Iran, is either about to take place or is being viewed as a serious option......The leading Iranian émigré group is the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which pretends to have a network of independent sources within Iran but actually is largely dependent on information from Israeli intelligence. The "critical analysis" of events in Iran that reaches policy-makers in Washington frequently comes from it and other lobbying and advocacy groups such as the American Enterprise Institute, the Hudson Institute, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), all of which share an "Iran agenda" that calls for regime change. AIPAC is known to be the source of a position paper on Iran that most congressmen rely on to shape their own views. Israel's advocates, including peripatetic politicians such as ex-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, make frequent visits to the United States, where they have good access to the media and potential supporters, to reinforce the case that Iran must be dealt with forcefully.
05-01-07 - ADL interfaith mission Clergy view Israel through a Jewish lens ?We knew that we couldn?t fairly present the Palestinian side and our primary emphasis needed to be on helping Christians understand the conflict from the Israeli perspective
05-01-07 - Conversation with?Andrea Levin For example, some years ago, after we pressed them pretty hard, PBS stopped airing documentaries on the Arab-Israeli conflict that were really skewed and biased......We are paying attention to the British media. We have done extensive work on The Guardian CAMERA is a staunchly pro-Israel 'watchdog'. It makes sure that our media (and now Britain's too, evidently) toe the Israeli line. As to the bit about the Guardian - I knew it. I could visibly see a difference within the past six or seven months, and mentioned that fact only recently.
05-01-07 - Congress letter pushes JNF as NGO "We are writing to express our strong support for the application by the Jewish National Fund-United States (JNF-US) for consultative status at the U.N. Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)," said the letter initiated by Reps. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.); Robert Wexler (D-Fla.); and Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.).
